গ্রোথ দল একটি প্রকল্প নিয়ে ভাবছে,যার মাধ্যমে নতুন অবদানকারীদেরকে নিবন্ধ তৈরির ক্ষেত্রে ভালো দিকনির্দেশনা দেয়া হবে। আমাদের আশা হলো নিবন্ধ তৈরির ক্ষেত্রে কাঠামোবদ্ধ নির্দেশনার মাধ্যমে নবাগতরা কম মানসম্মত নিবন্ধ তৈরি করা কমাবে, এবং পরীক্ষকদের কাজেও সুবিধা হবে। ২০২২ সালে স্বাগত জরিপে অংশ নেয়াদের মধ্যে দেখা গেছে প্রায় ২৮% নতুন অ্যাকাউন্ট তৈরিকারীগণ নিবন্ধ তৈরি করতে চায়। অথচ এই নবাগতরা উইকিপিডিয়ার নীতিমালা, উল্লেখযোগ্যতা, নিরপেক্ষ দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি, স্বার্থের সংঘাত ইত্যাদি সম্পর্কে অবগত নন। পরবর্তী নিবন্ধ অপসারিত হলে এই নবাগতরা রাগ বা হতাশ হয়ে পড়েন। এর কারণ তারা হয়ত সঠিক নির্দেশনা পাচ্ছেন না। এর ফলে নিবন্ধ পেট্রোলারদের কাজ বেড়ে যায়, এবং তাদের মন্তব্য হয়ত নবাগতরা ভালোমত নিতে পারেন না।

A new entry point available in Bengali Wikipedia

The WMF Language team has introduced a new entry point called "Contribute" to your Wikipedia. The Contribute entry point is based on collaborative work with other Product teams on Edit discovery. The Product teams evaluated different paths people took to contribute to the Wikimedia project and located a persistent and constant place where contributors (both old and new) could discover and understand how to contribute and improve any content in Wikipedia. So, you can access the Content and Section translation tool from a desktop or mobile device with ease, without a link from your Wikipedia account.
To access the new entry point, just login into your account, click on the User drop-down menu and choose the Contribute icon, which takes you to another menu where you will find a self-guided description of what you can do to contribute content, as shown in the image below. An option to “view contributions” is also available to access the list of your contributions.

This entry point is designed to be a central point to discover contribution tools. Currently, a limited number of options are provided, but different MediaWiki extensions can add more options to expand the list. This is also a new infrastructure, so there may be some issues to fix (such as issues on mobile and with some skins) and other ideas to improve. Since this is a new feature in active development, issues are expected to be resolved soon.
We have made this feature available in your Wikipedia and four others (Albanian, Malayalam, Mongolian, Tagalog) because we want your community to use this entry point and provide feedback to help us improve its discoverability and iterate in other Wikipedias. We chose your Wikipedia to be the first to have it because of your valuable contributions to bridging the knowledge gap using the Content and Section translation tool and your previous involvement in testing some of our tools.

- Regarding your comment: “Please, note that we already have those buttons for vector skins”, I would explain that the plan is to remove some of those old entry points and replace them with new ones. The old ones cannot scale to more activities. Removing the duplication can help avoid this confusion, and this ticket looks into the issue.

Permit me to say that even experienced users can benefit from a central place to quickly access the tools they need to contribute, especially when we have more tools/features. So, this is not just an entry point for the current tasks but a place to add others as time goes on.

It could be a good hub for useful tools based on contributors choice and project needs. It's a good futuristic move in principle and I appreciate that. That's what I roughly mentioned on the ticket as well. The ‘utterly unhelpful’ comment targets to the way ‘The feature’ was introduced to the users all of a sudden which sparked negative reactions. It is well appreciated; we are considering different options; one of them is making "view contributions" the default (except when no contributions are on the list). This will help us keep things as they are for old users with edits and target only new contributors. You can see more details about the proposal in this phabricator ticket. MinT Machine Translation added to Bengali Wikipedia

The WMF Language team has added another machine translation (MT) system for Content Translation in your Wikipedia called MinT; you can use MinT machine translation when translating Wikipedia articles using the Content Translation tool.
The WMF Language team provides the MinT service. It is hosted in the Wikimedia Foundation Infrastructure with neural machine translation models that other organizations have released with an open-source license. MinT integrates translation based on NLLB-200 and OpusMT and will replace those as separate options. This MT is set as optional in your Wikipedia. Still, you can choose not to use it by selecting "Start with empty paragraph" from the "Initial Translation" dropdown menu.
Since MinT is hosted in the WMF Infrastructure and the models are open source, it adheres to Wikipedia's policies about attribution of rights, your privacy as a user and brand representation. You can find more information about the MinT Machine translation and the models on this page.
Please note that the use of the MinT MT is not compulsory. However, we would want your community to:
- use it to improve the quality of the Machine Translation service
- provide feedback about the service and its quality, and ask questions about this addition.
We trust that introducing this MT is a good support to the Content Translation tool.

Hello, We are replacing most of the functionalities of MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist with a new special page called Special:BlockedExternalDomains. In this special page, admins can simply add a domain and notes on the block (usually reasoning and/or link to a discussion) and the added domain would automatically be blocked to be linked in Wikis anymore (including its subdomains). Content of this list is stored in MediaWiki:BlockedExternalDomains.json. You can see w:fa:Special:BlockedExternalDomains as an example. Check the phabricator ticket for more information.
This would make fighting spam easier and safer without needing to know regex or accidentally breaking wikis while also addressing the need to have some notes next to each domain on why it’s blocked. It would also make the list of blocked domains searchable and would make editing Wikis in general faster by optimizing matching links added against the blocked list in every edit (see phab:T337431#8936498 for some measurements).
If you want to migrate your entries in MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist, there is a python script in phab:P49299 that would produce contents of MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist and MediaWiki:BlockedExternalDomains.json for you automatically migrating off simple regex cases.
Note that this new feature doesn’t support regex (for complex cases) nor URL paths matching. Also it doesn’t support bypass by spam whitelist. For those, please either keep using MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist or switch to an abuse filter if possible. And adding a link to the list might take up to five minutes to be fully in effect (due to server-side caching, this is already the case with the old system) and admins and bots automatically bypass the blocked list.
